WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

So, what is the Gospel what does it mean?

the word 'Gospel' comes from the old English 'god-spell' meaning 'good news'. But what is the good news?

The good news is that Jesus came to earth from heaven to save the world! And through Jesus we can receive peace, rest, healing and ultimately eternal life.

See we as humans we have all hurt people, we have all done things that are wrong and none of us are perfect. God, the creator of everything, however is absolutely perfect and absolutely just. Because He is absolutely perfect and just He will hold us all accountable and set every record straight. God won't let wrong things go without justice which means we are in trouble because...

'all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God'

- Romans 3:23

The Bible says there is a place in the afterlife called Hell where people are eternally separated from God and justice will be served for every wrong. So what now? If we are all guilty and being a good person won't fix our mistakes or rewrite our past, what can we do? This is where Jesus comes in! The Bible says...

'For God so loved the world, he gave His one and only Son, so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life'

Jesus, the Son of God, came down to earth to show us what love truly was! He lived a perfect life we couldn't live, showing the perfect love of God to the world. He then was betrayed and crucified but this was all in the plan! On the cross Jesus He suffered and died taking the full penalty and punishment for the wrong things we've done and for the whole world! He loved us so much He laid down His life, He took our place, so we can have our record cleared! On the cross, before Jesus died, he said 'It is finished!' the debt had been paid, justice was served, our sentence was completed!

'But God demonstrates his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us'

- Romans 5:3

We now have access, through Jesus, to complete and utter forgiveness and freedom because of what Jesus did on the cross. Three days after He was crucified Jesus was raised to life again to show His victory and that this wasn't the end!

'In my Father's house are many rooms: if it weren't so, I would've told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also.'

- John 14:2,3

God loves you. He does. God knows your name, He sees you where you are and watches over you everyday! He wants YOU to come to know Him for yourself and to receive the forgiveness, mercy, healing, peace and eternal life He earned for you on the cross! To receive this all you have to do is ask Him!

Here is a prayer to help you ask if you want Jesus to forgive you, to come into our life and receive eternal life!

Lord Jesus, I'm sorry for the wrong I've done. I'm sorry for the people I've hurt and for the sin I've done in my life. Lord Jesus please forgive me. I believe you died for me so I could know you personally. I believe you rose to life again three days later and conquered death. I give you all my sin, I give you all my mess, I give you all my pride, I give you my life. Please come into my life, be my Lord and my saviour. Give me a new heart and a new mind. I pray this in Jesus name. Amen!

If you prayed that prayer and have decided to follow Jesus today you have made the best decision you've ever made! Congratulations! What now? Get yourself a Bible and learn about this amazing Jesus who loves you so much!

'He will never leave you nor forsake you'

- Hebrews 13:5

God bless you!
